Location: Located at 1,200 feet with nearly 1,500 acres of mainly forested land in the mountains of the Northern Range, seven miles north of the town of Arima, the Asa Wright Nature Centre is a world-class natural history destination for all birdwatchers.
Hotel: The Nature Centre was established in 1967 as a Trust by naturalists and bird-watchers to protect a part of the Arima Valley in a natural state and to create a conservation and study area for the protection of wildlife and for the enjoyment of all. It was one of the first nature Centre’s in the Caribbean. The Centre’s main facilities are located on a former cocoa-citrus plantation, previously known as the Spring Hill Estate.
Restaurant/Bar: The meals reflecting the incredible diversity of the local cuisine – a mix of West Indian, Creole, Oriental, Indian and European dishes are served family-style in an attractive dining area.
Activities: Bird watching.
Rooms: comfortable twin-bed rooms, each with a private bath. Rooms are located in the Main Estate House (handicapped accessible) and in nearby cottages scattered throughout the lovely garden-like grounds.
